Elegant appearance and exceptional depth effect - these are the characteristics of these high-gloss solid sheets available in various colours. The co-extruded sheets of PLEXIGLAS® Hi-Gloss are especially suited to wall applications or tile backsplashes.
As with many PLEXIGLAS(R) variants, the high resilience of the material means that, as long as the appropriate conditions exist, PLEXIGLAS® Hi-Gloss can be sawn, drilled, milled, ground and polished without problem. Twist drill bits must have an “acrylic glass face”. When polishing, the contact pressure should be low. During machining, the respective accident prevention regulations as well as the tool manufacturer’s specifications must be observed. PLEXIGLAS® Hi-Gloss is suitable for laser cutting. The gloss of the laser cut changes as the shock resistance increases. Wiping with light petroleum (benzine) produces clear edges.
PLEXIGLAS® Hi-Gloss has similar bonding properties to the extruded PLEXIGLAS® XT standard types, e.g. with the solvent-based adhesives ACRIFIX® 1S 0116 and 1S 0117 as well as the gap-filling polymerization adhesives ACRIFIX® 1R 0192 and 2R 0190.
The forming conditions correspond to those of the PLEXIGLAS® XT standard types. The thermoforming temperature should be between 140 °C and 160 °C, the range in which the material is rubbery-elastic. Predrying is not necessary provided the sheets are stored appropriately and with their PE surface protection films.
